Patric Catani is known for many productions for artists and bands like Puppetmastaz, Dhirty6Cru, Max Turner, Angie Reed, EC8OR, Driver & Driver, Peaches, Chilly Gonzales on various labels such as DHR, Beat Ink, Grand Royal, Mille Plateaux, Wordsound, nevermind the countless remixes for musicians from all over the world. With Beatmachine, Catani opens up his insanely filled treasure box of beat and instrumental work produced throughout the years from 1998 to 2010.
His very early releases in the harsher field of Breakbeat, Hardcore and Gabba already came with a lot of Hip Hop and Rap influences. Well, no wonder since his music education kind of started with the first wave of sample oriented bands like i.e. Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Bomb the Bass and KLF. Even though his EC8OR and solo LPs released on Digital Hardcore Recordings and Mille Plateaux were infused with downtempo and hip hop inspired tracks, the true ignition for rap and beatwork kicked off with the Comic Rap project “Steve Hive” ft. Paul PM that came out on Black Hoodz / Wordsound, in 1999.
While his beats continued to tour with bands like Puppetmastaz in the whole world, Catani intensified his collaborations with other musicians and MC´s. Obviously some projects more serious and fruitful than others, but generally a welcome change, and the cornerstone for a new music direction. Think Catani. Think a playful watchmaker who’s never tired to reinvent himself and scar out his very own timeless, unique Bass + Beat styles between space-dub, grime, soundtrack and RnB. And here we go, think Beatmachine, a long-play collection featuring most of his unreleased, but not necessarily unheard material. Enjoy the ride!

I released a new album compilation on Bandcamp featuring a lot of music that I produced besides my other band and official projects during the years. It´s a lot of story based, experimental songs with a soundtrack approach. Since most of the songs weren´t done for films or audioplays in the first place, I thought calling the compilation Ninstructed Material hits it very well. You can find a lot of music that never fit into any other album and some songs that one day will be put into context with a whole story. Especially “Die Taufe der Elektrischen Eisfee” will be continued, such as the whole waltz spirit on the album itself.

just recently a few days before the Worldtronics Festival 2011 at Haus der Kulturen der Welt I had some visitors from the TV Channel “ZDF Kultur” . Surprisingly one of the authors of the show “Pixelmacher” was informed about all of my work and we did a long interview at the Treptower Park. As it seems to be normal in TV,, just a tiny bit of it really got aired on the 16th of december. Also some of their (tacky) comments seemed to be important for their format, but whatever. A little look on my work for the forgotten world of TV watchers..
There´s also a whole show of Pixelmacher dedicated to the Worldtronics Festival featuring: Bubbly Fish, Jahtari, Soom-T, Candie Hank and many more: You can watch it on the ZDF Kultur Website. - Watch –

8-Bit & Chiptunes
With: Bubblyfish + Marieke Verbiesen, Disrupt, ChaCha, Super Guachin, Candie Hank, Soom T, Visuals: Raquel Meyers
- Thu 01.12.2011 Haus der Kulturen – | 20:00 h | Admission: 10 €/8 € Tickets online…
Compiled by Manuela Krause
The production of 8-Bit music or Chiptunes (sounds synthesized and rearranged from the sound chips of computers and game consoles), which emerged alongside the hardware used in the late 1980s, has developed into an international musical movement. While the hardware used often comes from the days when the Commodore 64 was the state of the art, the artistic approach is totally up to date. The program is being put together by the veteran 8-Bit activist Manuela Krause, also known on the scene as Manou and famed for her lo-fi pop songs.
Bubblyfish + Marieke Verbiesen
Bubblyfish is dedicated to the sound aesthetics of the Gameboy: ambient surfaces blended with cheerful Super Mario music, mixed in with 8-Bit drones. With the visual backing of Marieke Verbiesen’s manual live animations.
Disrupt + ChaCha
Disrupt, co-owner of the Leipzig network label Jahtari, which specializes in 8-Bit, has his own unique way of preserving the genre’s digital cultural heritage: 8-Bit dub. He’s backed up by the singer ChaCha from Guizhou in China, whose own pieces are heavily influenced by Downbeat and Triphop, dark and full of nostalgic moods.
Super Guachin
This Argentinian duo’s mid-tempo tracks represent a kind of glossy 8-Bit. Their music, which has also been described as tropical psychedelic, is almost transcendental, with a range of influences ranging from Dubstep thru Techno to Reggaeton and Cumbia Villera.
Candie Hank
is one of the thousands of pseudonyms used by the hyper-productive Berlin-based Patric Catani. This Gabba wunderkind with the stage name E de Cologne began working with 8-Bit sounds at the age of sixteen. His music boasts a huge bandwidth of styles.
Soom T
Heavily influenced by Indian music from the 1950s, along with Bhangra, Hip-Hop and 1980s pop, Soom T sings and plays 8-Bit digital Reggae. In addition, she has lent her voice to productions by countless artists, including The Orb, T.Raumschmiere, Bus, Asian Dub Foundation and many others.
Raquel Meyers
Raquel Meyers’ 8-Bit soundscape solo compositions make her predestined to do some VJ-ing with 8-Bit musicians. She uses low resolution graphics and visuals generated with text code to tell surreal picture stories full of dark humor.

I also made the Blowfist EP including a lot of Bonus tracks and nice artwork by Martin Mueller (http://www.ilikeyourbadbreathdaddy.de/)
Altogether a mega package of insensitivity, an excursion to a raving Jurassic Park. Something to wave your loincloth to while Dinosaurs around you digest their catch. If it gives you a head or muscle ache, I´m sorry.. ! – One of the few concept albums I ever made..
I took myself the freedom to stir up all I could find in the so called club, rave / banging context and made this overspiced, overcooked, – yes; let´s say even overcocked stew. Like in a shamanic self-cleaning I juggled and shuffled with all those “forbidden” elements that just can lead to ridiculous fun.. And we all know 2012 is coming…!
